Enamel
Enameling is the process of adding and firing layers of glass onto metal. I design and fabricate the piece then sift layers of powdered enamels on to create colors. Each layer is fired, then more layers are added. The initial enamel layers are opaque, followed by translucent colors which add shading and enhance the over all colors.
Metal Fabrication

Fabrication is the process of moving flat metal sheet and wire into a form. These pieces are created by cutting, sawing, hammering, soldering, molding, texturing and adding patinas. I get excited by the fact that a plain hard sheet of metal can be moved and shaped into a form of beauty.
Metal Clay

Silver metal clay is a new form of silver, often recycled and is pure silver. Silver clay is soft enough to mold and shape like modeling clay and then fired in a kiln or with a torch. Once fired the clay turns into 99.9% pure silver.
Recently base metal clays have been developed and work much the same as the silver metal clay. The new clays come in copper, bronze and steel.
Stones and glass can be added the these designs creating looks similar to fabricated pieces.
